The 5 second portrait

As a portrait demonstration for one of my consult clients I wanted to demonstrate the power of simplicity of equipment and soft natural light combined with a great rapport with your client, so was born the 5 second portrait. The first three are of my daughters taken a few Saturdays ago, they were in their PJ's watching High School Musical 2 (for the 89th time) and the last five shots were taken during a family portrait session, none of these portraits took longer than 5 seconds to shoot.

And my point is???

Using open shade, shooting wide open (f 1.4) and focusing only on the face you can shoot in any location / situation and can get amazing shots with minimal fuss. The main point is to create trust and communication with your subject and just go for it!
